PHYS 971 - Statistical MechanicsCredits: (3) The study of equilibrium states of physical systems involving many particles. Introduces basic concepts of statistical ensembles and presents applications to non-interacting systems for both classical and quantum-mechanical particles. Discusses aspects of interacting classical systems, including a brief introduction to phase transitions and critical phenomena.
