SOCIO 861 - Sociology of Deviance A critical examination of the nature, types, and societal reactions to deviant behavior. Special emphasis will be given to the process of stigmatization, the social construction of deviance as a social problem, and the effect of inequalities such as race, gender, class, and sexuality on the process of creating and applying deviant labels to individuals and groups.
