Doctoral degree requirements
Genetics Program students are also required to meet the seminar requirements of the students in their host departments.
A minimum of 90 credits is required, with typical course programs of 25 to 40 credit hours: Courses must include:

A statistics course (700 level or higher)

A biochemistry class (700 level or higher)
-
A course in population genetics (700 level or higher)
Additional courses required for the PhD degree depend on the emphasis of the degree program:
Molecular, cellular and developmental genetics emphasis
PhD students in the Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Genetics emphasis must take two or more of the following courses: Genetics of plant-microbe interactions emphasis
PhD students in Genetics of Plant-Microbe Interactions emphasis must take two or more of the following courses: Arthropod genetics emphasis
PhD students in the Arthropod Genetics emphasis must take two or more of the following courses: Quantitative genetics emphasis
PhD students in the Quantitative Genetics emphasis must take two or more of the following courses:
- BIOL 890 - Top/Ecology of Fungi
- BIOL 890 - Top/Ecology of Genomics
