FNDH 115 - Introduction to Health and Nutrition Professions Credits: 2
This course will provide a history of public health and exposure to health professions that pertain to nutrition and sports medicine. It will offer learners a methodology for understanding populations and population health specific to nutrition, sport, and activity. Students will analyze contemporary public health issues such as threats to the nation’s food supply, health promoting behaviors in the prevention of disease, the burden and distribution of infectious diseases on a global population, public health’s role in disaster preparedness and management, and bioterrorism. Learners will then be exposed to healthcare professions utilizing some of the evidence derived from nutrition and health sciences that guides their decisions when counseling their patients.
