GEOL 540 - Geologic Record of Climate Change Credits: 3
This course introduces basic concepts on climate science, exploring the controls and interconnectivity of the elements in the climate system, and the positive and negative feedback systems that are at work in causing climate change. It also discusses how past climates are reconstructed using various geologic indicators and climate proxies from sedimentological, biological and geochemical archives, and discusses some key events on the Earth’s climate history and how they can be used to understand present and future climate changes.
