MATHR - Athletic Training (MS)

The MS in Athletic Training (MSAT) is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training (CAATE) and leads to a Master of Science in Athletic Training. In addition to meeting the CAATE standards, graduates from the MSAT will be eligible to take the Board of Certification-Athletic Training (BOC) national certifying examination. The combination of completing an accredited program and successful completion of the BOC examination allows students to apply for state regulation and practice as an athletic trainer. Graduates will use research, innovative methods, and evidence-based healthcare practices with their clients in secondary schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, clinics, industry, military, and the performing arts. 

The 24-month athletic training program is delivered through 6 continuous semesters and includes both classroom training (didactic) and clinical application experiences (practicums). The program begins in the summer; students accepted into the MSAT begin as a cohort and graduate in May. Clinical placement experiences are spread out through the curriculum; however, the final two semesters provide a more in-depth clinical placement experience. Students will complete a minimum of 8 credit hours of practicum between FNDH 887 and FNDH 888 during the second year in the program. 

*The MSAT program utilizes non-standard course scheduling with KSU semester guidelines. 

Students can apply to the MS in Athletic Training at KSU through one of two options: 

(1) 5-Year Master's Degree Option or  

(2) Post-baccalaureate Option (after receiving a bachelor's degree)

Upon acceptance into the K-State MSAT Program, students must complete the following requirements before starting classes. Details and instructions for completing these requirements will be provided to the student upon acceptance into the program. Additional health and safety requirements will be implemented during the initial summer semester. Please refer to the website for more details.

1. Documentation of Current/Active Health Insurance
Note: Students in the MSAT Program are required to maintain health insurance coverage throughout the entirety of the program.
2. Verification of Immunizations and Vaccinations
3. Verified Completion of a Physical Examination
4. Criminal Background Check
