K-State Core is the foundation for an impactful life and career after time at K-State.
The K-State Core framework covers six disciplinary areas: English, Communications, Mathematics & Statistics, Natural & Physical Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. In addition, a seventh area is reserved for institutionally designated use, which K-State is keeping as free electives. In total, the framework takes up 34-35 credit hours of 100 and 200-level coursework. Students who complete their general education elsewhere cannot be required to take additional general education coursework in the disciplinary areas of the framework without permission from KBOR to continue requiring courses in the K-State Core.

Students must choose a concentration area (not in a computing discpline) with a minimum of 18 credit hours, to be completed in 1 of 3 ways.
Note: If existing credentials (e.g., minor, certificate) for one of the options does not require 18 or more credits hours, a student may satisfy this requirement by completing the credential and enough additional credits to complete at least 18 credits total in the field. If no minor is offered at all in a given field, a student may take 18 credits in that field to satisfy the requirement. Courses counted toward the ICS core cannot count toward the concentration.
Take 18 additional credits from the three integration areas or from the list below to complete an interdisciplinary concentration. These credits must include six classes from three different fields, two at the 500 level or above. Courses used for the Integration Electives cannot also count in the Interdisciplinary Concentration.
