Agricultural and Natural Resources Communications (BS)

The agricultural and natural resources communications major prepares students for various communications positions related to agricultural and natural resources areas. Careers can be targeted in public relations, journalism, broadcasting, advertising, marketing, and advocacy. Students in the major experience applied learning through project-based coursework and opportunities to engage with industry professionals and alumni, developing their portfolio and network.

Separate from the GE requirements, we are requiring one course (3-4 credit hours) in natural or physcial sciences. Students can choose from a department list

Analytical Reasoning elective: (3 credit hours)


A math, statistics, or research-focused course from department list

Business/Econ Requirements: (6 credit hours)


AG/Natural Resources Science Elective: (3 credit hours)


Students choose a agriculture-related science elective from department list

Agriculture Core: (18-19 credit hours)


Agriculture Foundations: (6-7 credit hours)


Two agricultural introductory courses from two different prefixes, from department list. 

Agricultural electives: (12 credit hours)


12 hours of agricultural electives, from department list. 9 of the 12 hours must be at the advanced level (300+)

Communication and Marketing Electives: (9 credit hours)


Choose advanced (300+) communications and/or marketing electives from a department list

Free electives: (4-6 credit hours)


Free elective credit hours to meet 120 total hours required for the degree
