Return to: Management
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) in Business Certificate offers a focused specialty area of study that builds skills related to strategically managing a multicultural and identity diverse workforce. There is an increasing expectation that employees be able to work effectively with colleagues and clients who identify differently from themselves. Furthermore, managers are increasingly expected to understand and be able to apply how DEIB can increase revenue and decrease expenses within their business context. Finally, businesses, consumers, and other stakeholders are increasingly prioritizing corporate social justice.
The purpose of the certificate is four-fold. First, to provide an opportunity for K-State students to deepen their understanding their own perspectives and those of others so they can perform in a culturally intelligent manner. Second, to understand workplace strategies that foster diversity and inclusion and increase employees’ sense of belonging. Third, to highlight the business case for diversity and highlight the ways that greater inclusion results in more successful business enterprises. Finally, the certificate helps students distinguish themselves as a leader who is committed to fostering diversity and building belonging in their professional field.
