Technique Courses: (6 credit hours)

Dance Performance Certificate students must take three additional dance technique courses beyond those completed for the Secondary Major in Dance and the Human Experience, from among those listed below, and must achieve a minimum grade of “B” in each.

• DANCE 115 - Yoga for Restoration Credits: 3
• DANCE 120 - Contemporary Dance I Credits: 2-3
• DANCE 165 - Ballet I Credits: 2-3
• DANCE 171 - Jazz Dance I Credits: 2-3
• DANCE 181 - Tap I Credits: 2-3
• DANCE 240 - West African Styles of Social Dance and Music Credits: 2
• DANCE 280 - Musical Theatre Dance Credits: 2-3
• DANCE 323 - Contemporary Dance II Credits: 2
• DANCE 324 - Contemporary Dance III Credits: 2
• DANCE 325 - Ballet II Credits: 2
• DANCE 326 - Ballet III Credits: 2
• DANCE 371 - Jazz Dance II Credits: 2
• DANCE 372 - Jazz Dance III Credits: 2

Electives (3 credit hours)

Choose one of the following core electives: 

• DANCE 395 - Dance Composition I Credits: 3
• DANCE 605 - Movement: Fundamentals, Analysis, and Observation Credits: 3
• DANCE 505 - Methods and Materials of Teaching Dance Credits: 2

• * Students who choose Dance 505 for their core elective will need to take any additional credit of any DANCE course to meet the 12 credit minimum (this may be achieved by taking a 3-credit course to fulfill one of the technique requirements, by taking an additional semester of Dance 502, 503, or 504, or through an Indepdendent Study / Dance 599) Credits / Units: 1

Performance Ensembles (3 credit hours)

Dance Performance Certificate students must take three semesters of a performance ensemble, beyond those completed for the Secondary Major in Dance and the Human Experience, from among the following courses:

• DANCE 502 - Performance Production Credits: 0-1
• DANCE 503 - K-State Tap Dance Ensemble Credits: 0-1
• DANCE 504 - Contemporary Dance Ensemble Credits: 0-1

• Students must enroll in a minimum of 3 credit hours from among Dance 502, Dance 503, and Dance 504 to complete this requirement.

Total credit hours: 12
