Japanese Studies Minor

Develop intermediate level language skills in Japanese as well as an interdisciplinary foundation in the culture of the Japanese-speaking world.

Program requirements


  • To declare your minor, you need to fill out a “Add Minor” form in the Department of Modern Languages, 207 Eisenhower Hall.
  • 18 credit hours of Japanese courses at the 200-level or above, and/or courses approved by the department of modern languages, listed below as “ancillary courses”.
  • You must receive a “C” or better, or a minimum GPA of 2.5, in all courses counted toward a minor. Classes for the minor cannot be taken Pass/Fail. Retroactive Credit from KSU does apply toward the minor.
  • We strongly encourage students to Study Abroad. While we will accept appropriate coursework taken toward the minor, no more than six hours of transfer courses may be used for the minor.
