Entomology B.S.


Entomology is a diverse field with the ability to focus on disciplines ranging from animal health, plant science, stored products, and biodiversity. Students choose courses within and outside Entomology to focus on any of these areas and gain the leadership and critical thinking skills necessary in the modern job market. 

 

 

Required Courses (30 credit hours)


Professional Specialization (15 credit hours)


  • Any ENTOM 300 or above
  • Directed courses in Professional-related fields selected with the guidance of your advisor
  • For students that are double majoring or getting a Dual degree these credit can be filled with requirements from second major/Dual degree.

Professional Success Skills (24-26 credit hours)


  • Agriculture (choose 3 Credits): any College of Agriculture course not in Entomology
  • Bioscience (choose 3-5 Credits): see Departmental List.
  • Business & Management (choose 6 Credits): see Departmental List.
  • Data Analysis (choose 3 Credits from): STAT 325 or above
  • Leadership & Critical Thinking (choose 6 Credits): GENAG 210 or above, PHILO 100 or above
  • Professional Communication (choose 3 Credit): see Departmental List.
  • Or directed electives selected with the guidance of your advisor. See Departmental List.

Specialized Skills (6 Credit Hours)

  • Bioscience (choose 6 credits): any BIOL, BIOCH, CHM courses 200 or above

Notes:


(1) Up to half of the credits required for a four-year degree may be completed at an accredited two-year institution.

(2) A minimum of 45 hours must be taken at the course level of 300 or above.

(3) Each student must satisfy K-State 8 general education requirements. K-State 8 can be met by both K-State and transfer courses.
