International Agriculture Minor

Experiential learning through international study and travel broadens horizons and increases understanding of global issues by allowing students to examine different agricultural systems, the global marketplace, and the role of social values in food consumption patterns. This minor will add value to undergraduate degree programs, enhance employment opportunities with multinational corporations, and prepare students to function in diverse communities.

Program requirements
The program is open only to majors in the College of Agriculture.
The program consists of:
- One foundation course.
- A modern language.
- An international experience.
- A capstone seminar.
- Students are required to complete at least two semesters of university-level modern language courses.
- The international experience may consist of a travel study course, study abroad, community service, or internship. Academic credit can be granted for international experiences.
Foundation course (3 credit hours)
Modern language courses (8-10 credit hours)
Students must complete or quiz out of two semesters of one modern language.
International experience (1-3 credit hours)
Capstone seminar (1 credit hour)
Elective courses
Students are encouraged to select elective courses in agriculture, social science, and humanities areas and/or free electives that complement their study of the region or country selected as the focus of their program. Note
Students must complete a “declaration of intent” form describing their plan to fulfill the course work, language, and international experience requirements for the minor. The form will be submitted to and approved by the Office of Agriculture Academic Programs.
