Fisheries, Wildlife, Conservation, and Environmental Biology B.A./B.S.

A degree in fisheries, wildlife, conservation or environmental biology will provide students with a strong biological background allowing them to contribute to managing and protecting the natural world.  Students in this major may obtain either the BA or BS degree. In addition to the requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences, Fisheries, Wildlife, Conservation, and Environmental Biology majors must take the courses indicated below and an additional 10 to 18 credit hours of free electives to meet graduation requirements. Students who wish to qualify for professional certification as fisheries or wildlife biologists should consult their academic advisors about any additional courses needed for certification.

1For students who plan to proceed into graduate programs or planning for a career in environmental quality laboratory science, CHM 350 and CHM 351 are recommended.

2For students who plan to proceed into graduate programs or planning for a career in environmental quality laboratory science, MATH 220 is recommended.

3Classes required under each option total 27 credits. For each option, classes applied to the specific option requirements and those chosen from the major elective list must be different classes.

4No more than 3 credits from the list combination of BIOL 695 Internshp in Biology and/or BIOL 698 Research in Biology may be used anywhere in the program.
