International Business Certificate


The certificate in international business is open to all students, and it appeals to students seeking adventure, growth, and international exposure that will enhance their personal and professional development. The certificate will be awarded to students who achieve a superior level of expertise in international aspects of business. This certificate will be noted on the student’s transcript.

Key Advantages of the Certificate in International Business (CIB):


  • Students develop proficiency in another language. The language skills acquired will allow them to integrate professionally, academically, and socially with people around the globe.
  • Students study and learn about international and global business practices in the international courses. This knowledge will give them a competitive advantage when they start working in a dynamic and global business world.
  • Students study or work abroad. This in-depth, cultural experience gives them valuable cross-cultural competencies that are highly sought after by employers.

Certification requirements


  • Advanced foreign language study, Level 4 or the equivalent of Level 4, in a foreign language sequence offered by the Department of Modern Languages.
  • An additional (6) credit hours in language courses numbered 500 or above in a single language (see academic advisor for complete details).
  • Required international courses (12) credit hours of approved international courses. Nine credit hours must be from international business courses.
  • An approved study abroad experience/student exchange program or an international internship (summer, semester or year) in conjunction with completing a minimum of (3) credit hours specifically approved for this certificate.
  • Students must earn a 2.5 GPA on all courses used for the certificate program. Students must earn at least 50 percent of the credits that apply to the certificate program from K-State.
  • The number of students admitted into the certificate in international business will be based on resource availability.

Notes:


  • Students must earn at least a 2.5 GPA on courses taken to fulfill the requirement of the CIB.
  • At least 50% of the credits/units that apply to the certificate program must be earned at K-State or an approved university affiliate of K-State in another country.
  • Certificate must be earned concurrently with degree. It cannot be completed after baccalaureate degree has been granted.
  • Certificate will be noted on the transcript.
  • The number of students admitted in the CIB will be based on resource availability.
