EDEL 461 - Science of Reading II Credits: 3
Extends an evidence-based approach to teaching the science of reading in the intermediate grades building on five areas: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Topics include orthography, morphology, essential components of structured literacy, and the research behind practices that support literacy skills. Addresses literacy assessment, instructional strategies, and resources for teaching writing, language comprehension, and reading comprehension to meet the needs of all students.

Requisites Prerequisite: EDEL 410, EDEL 411, EDEL 412, EDEL 413, and EDEL 414. Concurrent enrollment in EDEL 460, EDEL 462, EDEL 463, and EDEL 464.
