A course of study leading to a degree from the College of Engineering provides a well-rounded university education and equips students with a broad theoretical and practical background to meet the new and demanding problems of our technological society.

Admissions

Applicants must first be admitted to Kansas State University either as an incoming freshman or a transfer student. Admission to the College of Engineering is selective. Declaration of the desired curriculum in the College of Engineering does not guarantee admission into the degree program selected. For current admission criteria please refer to the College of Engineering admissions website.

Students not admitted to the College of Engineering can enter the K-State’s Open Option program or another available college/degree program. These students can still apply to enter the College of Engineering at a later date as an internal transfer student after they have completed one full-time semester at K-State. Please see the internal transfer student requirements on the College of Engineering website.

Grade requirements

In addition to the university standards and policies for grades, the College of Engineering has the following standards:

Curricula grades

See the individual engineering department websites for the grade requirements for their curricula. All courses applied to degree requirements require a letter grade except for 0-credit hour assembly courses.

Transferability of courses

Transfer courses with grades of pass/fail and credit/no-credit are not accepted by the College of Engineering.  Transfer courses with grades less than C are also not accepted by the College of Engineering except for courses that fulfill K-State Core general education requirements. Even then, if the grade is below a C, the course may not meet departmental standards and will need to be retaken before enrolling in advanced coursework.  For information on the transferability of courses to K-State, please consult the K-State website.  For questions regarding this policy please contact Engineering Student Services.
