Gerontology Secondary Major

The 24-credit hour secondary major in gerontology prepares students from diverse majors to work with the globally aging population. This program is available to all students currently enrolled at Kansas State University. Most programs of study will allow students to complete both their primary and secondary majors within a typical four-year academic program. Students can enroll by contacting the Center on Aging (humansci@k-state.edu).

Students will choose from one of the following tracks:

  • Gerontology (9) + Electives (15)

  • Gerontology (9) + Long-Term Care Administration Track (12) + Elective (3)

Most students who successfully complete the Long-Term Care Administration track will be eligible to sit for their specific state’s administrator licensing exam.
