Horticulture and Natural Resources - Urban Food Systems (MS)

This specialization focuses on sustainable agriculture, food systems project management, grant writing, horticultural science, and safe food production in an urban environment. Students will gain a systems-level understanding of urban food systems and the cultural, political environmental, and economic roles within them.

Admission Requirements


Applications are accepted at any time of the year, and graduate studies can begin during fall, spring or summer terms. Applying early increases the probability of being awarded an assistantship. Course Requirements


A culminating experience is required for this option. The graduate student works with the major professor and the supervisory committee to determine the parameters of the culminating experience.

  • Professional/Scientific Writing  Credits / Units: 3
  • Credits: 1-18 (2)
  • Only 2 credit hours of Master’s Report course can be counted towards degree.
