Through an interdisciplinary approach, learners will build critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills essential for legal studies and practice. Supports a wide range of academic and professional goals, particularly for those pursuing careers in law, public policy, and its related fields. Explore the legal and ethical foundations that guide fair and effective governance, policy development, and institutional accountability. Learn how to identify and address systemic challenges in various settings—such as courts, corporations, schools, the military, and nonprofits—while gaining a deeper understanding of the principles that shape laws and policies. Equip learners to recognize and respond to legal and structural inequities, preparing them to be thoughtful advocates and change-makers.   

The certificate is available both to those currently pursuing a K-State baccalaureate degree, as well as non-degree students seeking only this certificate. 

Foundational Courses: (12 Credit Hours)


Take one course (3 credit hours) in each of the following four areas

Electives: 6 credit hours


Choose at least 2 additional classes from the foundational courses or from the list below. Minimum 6 credits total.  Courses used above may not be used to fulfill this requirement.
