Kinesiology (BS)

Kinesiology is the study of physical activity as it ranges from basic mechanisms of movement to the complex dynamics of physical activity in the context of human health and well-being. Kinesiology students explore the importance of physical activity across a range of tasks, including exercise, daily living, play, sport and work. Using both biological and behavioral approaches, the program combines biomechanical, physiological and sociological perspectives to examine physical activity from cell to society.

Kansas State University Core: 34-36 Credit Hours
K-State Core is the foundation for an impactful life and career after time at K-State. The K-State Core framework covers six disciplinary areas: English, Communications, Mathematics & Statistics, Natural & Physical Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. In addition, a seventh area is reserved for institutionally designated use, which K-State is keeping as free electives. In total, the framework takes up 34-35 credit hours of 100 and 200-level coursework. Students who complete their general education elsewhere cannot be required to take additional general education coursework in the disciplinary areas of the framework without permission from KBOR to continue requiring courses in the K-State Core. * Required if not met through University Core requirements. C or better required. If not met through K-State Core requirements, STAT 225 is required.
Professional Studies (39 credit hours)
Grades of ‘C’ or higher required for Professional Courses. A GPA of 2.2 for all Kinesiology courses excluding KIN 360 is required. Kinesiology Lower-level Courses: (18 credits hours)
Exercise Physiology: (3 credit hours)
Choose one of the following courses: Exercise Behavioral Science: (3 credit hours)
Choose one of the following courses: Kinesiology Elective Courses 300 level or higher: (24 credit hours)
Select 24 hours of Kinesiology courses above 300 level not applied elsewhere. At least 3 hours must be 600 level or above. Unrestricted electives: (17 credit hours)
Dependent on course selection to fulfill general education requirements
