Accelerated Chemistry (BS)/Adult Learning and Leadership (MS)

The accelerated Accelerated Chemistry (BS)/Adult Learning and Leadership (MS) will provide high-performing undergraduates the opportunity to pursue an accelerated MS/Master of Science in Adult Learning and Leadership degree with early admission to the graduate program as well as the ability to count nine credit hours of coursework in their graduate program toward their undergraduate degree.

Application Process
Students should apply to the program during their junior year. Applications should include the following: - A completed on-line application to the K-State Graduate School with paid application fee.
- Written documentation demonstrating agreement by a member of the Graduate Faculty in the Kansas State University College of Education, Adult Learning and Leadership Program, who will serve as the student’s major professor.
- Statement of objectives: State your academic objectives in one to two pages and include the following information: (1) career and professional goals and aspirations and how being accepted to the program will specifically benefit your goals and aspirations; (2) description of relevant professional experience within education or a related field; and (3) future professional plans.

Admission Requirements
Undergraduate students applying for the accelerated program are required to have completed a minimum of 75 credit hours towards their bachelor degree. The following requirements must be met for admission into the accelerated program: - The student must be seeking the bachelor’s degree.
- The student must have completed a minimum of 75 credit hours toward the bachelor degree at the time of application for admission to the accelerated program.
- The student’s cumulative undergraduate GPA must be at least 3.000.
- The student must meet all other Graduate School admission criteria as outlined in the Graduate School Handbook and any graduate program specific requirements.
- A student who has completed all coursework for the bachelor’s degree is not eligible for the accelerated program.
Program Specific Admission Requirements
- The BA/BS degree normally requires 120 undergraduate credit hours and the M.S. degree 33 graduate credit hours. However, the MS program requires 9 credit hours of elective courses at the 600 level or above that may count towards both the Chemistry BA/BS and the MS
- Students may begin taking graduate courses during their 4th year of the program.
- Graduate courses must be completed with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- A grade of C or above must be achieved in all courses taken to fulfill Chemistry BA/BS requirements.
- The BA/BS degree may be awarded at any time following the completion of the undergraduate degree requirements. Alternatively, the BA/BS and MS degrees may be awarded concurrently following completion of the full program.
- Students must choose one of two options in the BA/BS program – the Chemistry Program or the Chemical Science Program.
Overlapping Courses
Students may select up to 9 credits from the list of courses below to satisfy the requirements for both their undergraduate and graduate degrees. These courses should be listed at the 600-700 level. Graduation Requirements
- After completion of all undergraduate program requirements, including the up to nine (9) overlapping graduate credit hours that are counted toward the bachelor’s degree, the student must apply to be awarded the bachelor’s degree.
- After receiving the bachelor degree, the student is eligible to be fully admitted into the master program portion of the accelerated bachelor-master program.
- To complete the second part of the accelerated program, the student must complete all master program requirements with a graduate cumulative GPA of at least 3.000.
