Mineral Exploration for a Sustainable Future Graduate Certificate

Return to: Geology
Certificate students must be admitted as full time graduate students. Application for admission must be made to the Graduate School. Students must earn a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the Mineral Exploration Core to earn the certificate. Courses counted towards the completion of one Certificate may not be double counted towards the completion of a second Certificate or completion of Master degree. Admission requires a BS in Geology or related field and a minimum of 2.8 GPA at undergrad level.
The course requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Mineral Exploration for a Sustainable Future are as follow. A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours is required to earn the certificate. A maximum of two core courses may be waived and replaced with approved electives in cases where students have completed prior coursework for undergraduate credit. A minimum of 12 hours at the 600-level or higher is required.
After earning the graduate certificate, students may apply credits earned through the graduate certificate completion towards a Master of Geology at Kansas State University.

Admission Requirements
A Bachelor in Geology is required to be admitted to the program. Student should have completed at least courses such as Petrology, Structural Geology, Field Camp, or equivalent courses. Admission requires a B. Sc in Geology or related field and a minimum of 2.8 GPA at undergrad level. Graduation Requirements
A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours is required to earn the certificate. Students must earn a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the Mineral Exploration core to earn the certificate. Courses counted towards the completion of one Certificate may be counted towards the completion of a Master degree.
Required Courses
6 credit hours. Students will have to complete both courses: Elective Courses
9 credit hours. Student should select 3 of the following courses: Total Hours Required for Graduate Certificate: 18
