M.S. in Agricultural Economics
Offered through the Department of Agricultural Economics , the M.S. in Agricultural Economics can be earned in either a thesis or no-thesis option.

Thesis option
The thesis option includes a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate credit including 24 hours of course work and a Master’s thesis for which 6 semester credit hours are given. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in research, analysis, or to continue towards a Ph.D. program. The course requirements are: Economics and Agricultural Economics Theory: 12 credit hours
Select three courses from:
Quantitative Methods: 3 credit hours
Electives: 9 credit hours
- AGEC Elective (700 level or higher) Credits: 3
- General Elective (700 level or higher) Credits: 3
Thesis Research: 6 credit hours
Non-Thesis Coursework Only Option
The non-thesis option includes a minimum of 36 semester hours of coursework and a final examination. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in public service, commerce, and industry. The course requirements are: Economic and Agricultural Economics Theory: 12 credit hours

- AGEC or ECON (700 level or higher) Credits: 15
- General Elective (700 level or higher) Credits: 3
Special Requirement
The student is required to demonstrate evidence of scholarly effort by completing a creative component consisting of a written paper and an oral defense. Total Hours Required for Master’s: 30-36
