Offered through the Department of Agricultural Economics , the M.S. in Agricultural Economics can be earned in either a thesis or no-thesis option.

Course Requirements
The thesis option includes a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate credit including 24 hours of course work and a Master’s thesis for which 6 semester credit hours are given. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in research, analysis, or to continue towards a Ph.D. program. The course requirements are: Quantitative Methods: 3 credit hours
Electives
For thesis option: 9 credit hours; for coursework only option: 21 credit hours - AGEC Elective (700 level or higher) Credits: 3 (Thesis option) or 12 (Coursework only option)
- General Elective (700 level or higher) Credits: 3
OR Thesis Option Course: 6 credit hours
Coursework Only Option
The student is required to demonstrate evidence of scholarly effort by completing a creative component consisting of a written paper and an oral defense. A culminating experience is required for this option. The graduate student works with the major professor and the supervisory committee to determine the parameters of the culminating experience. Total Hours Required for Master’s: 30-36
