The Biomanufacturing certificate prepares a wide variety of students for careers in biomanufacturing through core knowledge and experiential learning with a focus on bioprocess technologies including upstream process operations (cell culture technologies), downstream process operations (separation technologies), and industry standards for the production of biotherapeutics, vaccines, industrial enzymes, and biochemicals.
Admission Procedures
- The certificate program is open to any student admitted to a K-State degree program and to non-degree seeking students who apply to K-State as a non-degree seeking student.
- Non-K-State Students must apply to K-State as a non-degree seeking undergraduate by completing the online application form.
- Students currently enrolled in a K-State degree program must declare the Undergraduate Certificate Program by email to bae@ksu.edu

Required Courses: 15 credit hours
The Biomanufacturing certificate program requires 15 credit hours from four biomanufacturing competencies including: Biomanufacturing and Industry Standards: 4 credit hours
Cell Culture Technology/Engineering: 5 credit hours
Separation Technology/Engineering: 5 credit hours
Experiential Learning in Biomanufacturing: 1 credit hour
One hour of coursework comprised of undergraduate biomanufacturing research, independent study, internship, design project, or capstone project in biomanufacturing is required. Any research project having demonstrated biomanufacturing and fulfilling the research requirements of a student’s honors program will satisfy this requirement. Select one/apply one credit of internship, research, Capstone project, or design project in biomanufacturing. |
