Dietetics Undergraduate Certificate

​​The Dietetics Undergraduate Certificate is a pathway for career-changers to earn a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) Verification Statement from an ACEND-accredited program. The Dietetics Certificate consists of 43 credit hours of certificate courses. The certificate is designed as a free-standing credential. To earn the Dietetics Certificate, learners must already have earned a bachelor’s degree. Prerequisite coursework must be completed separately if not included in earned bachelor’s degree, with a C or better. Certificate courses must be completed with a B or better. After admission to the Dietetics Undergraduate Certificate, certificate seekers may apply for Didactic Program Verification Statement Consideration. Four required courses must be completed at Kansas State University: FNDH 400, FNDH 631, FNDH 632, and FNDH 645.​ 

Admission Requirements:

​​Learners must hold a completed bachelor’s degree. They must have earned a B or higher in Certificate Courses and a C or higher in any Major Support Courses taken prior to application.​ 

Special Requirements:

Certificate seekers are eligible to receive an ACEND Didactic Program Verification Statement. This verification statement allows them to apply to accredited supervised practice programs, which is a required step in the pathway to becoming eligible to sit for the RDN credentialing exam. The verification statement also immediately qualifies graduates to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam to become a Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR). 

A formal review process is used to verify learner eligibility. 

To be eligible to apply, you must have: 

  • completed or be enrolled in FNDH 400 

  • earned a B or higher in Certificate courses taken prior to application 

  • earned a C or higher in Major Support Courses taken prior to application 

  • have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher in collegiate coursework (Waivers of this criteria are considered on a case-by-case basis.) 

  • share any additional information as requested by the review committee. 

To earn the RDN credential, students must also earn a master’s degree, complete an accredited supervised practice, and successfully pass the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) exam. 

Completion Requirements

  • ​​Earning a C or better in prerequisite courses. 
  • Earning a B or better in certificate courses.
  • Successful review of ACEND DPD Verification Statement eligibility requirements.  
  • Completion of these four courses at Kansas State University: FNDH 400, FNDH 631, FNDH 632, and FNDH 645.  ​
