The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in computer engineering at Kansas State University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.

K-State Core  is the foundation for an impactful life and career after time at K-State.

The K-State Core framework covers six disciplinary areas: English, Communications, Mathematics & Statistics, Natural & Physical Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. In addition, a seventh area is reserved for institutionally designated use, which K-State is keeping as free electives. In total, the framework takes up 34-35 credit hours of 100 and 200-level coursework. Students who complete their general education elsewhere cannot be required to take additional general education coursework in the disciplinary areas of the framework without permission from KBOR to continue requiring courses in the K-State Core.

Notes


For the good and benefit of the student and their future employer, the ECE department enforces a C-prerequisite policy for all courses listed by number in the curriculum and for any in-major technical elective course applied toward the degree. A grade of C or better must be earned in all prerequisites to such a course before enrolling in that course.

*Technical electives must be selected from the list of accepted courses.

**Typically only offered in one semester

***No more than twelve (12) credit hours of courses with prefixs ECE may be transferred to Kansas State University for credit toward a bachelor degree in either electrical engineering or computer engineering. Further, those courses selected for transfer credit must be equivalent to courses in the list below and must be such that the prerequisites for the listed course are also satisfied. Any courses listed below transferred must be taken from ABET accredited programs: ECE 241, ECE 410, ECE 525.
