Applied Music - Instrumental Performance (BM)

The Bachelor of Music in Applied Music is a four-year program preparing performers in discipline of their choice. Students will select from voice, instrumental, musical theatre, or composition to serve as their area of study.

Kansas State University Core: 34-36 Credit Hours
K-State Core is the foundation for an impactful life and career after time at K-State. The K-State Core framework covers six disciplinary areas: English, Communications, Mathematics & Statistics, Natural & Physical Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. In addition, a seventh area is reserved for institutionally designated use, which K-State is keeping as free electives. In total, the framework takes up 34-35 credit hours of 100 and 200-level coursework. Students who complete their general education elsewhere cannot be required to take additional general education coursework in the disciplinary areas of the framework without permission from KBOR to continue requiring courses in the K-State Core. Instrumental Performance Courses
Music Fundamentals: (22 credit hours)
All of the following courses are required Advanced Music Studies: (15 credit hours)
Studio Lessons: (19 credit hours)
Students are required to take 8 credit hours of MUSIC 255 Students are required to take 11 credit hours of MUISC 455 Organizational Requirement: (12 credit hours)
Major Ensemble: (8 credit hours)
Must be enrolled in one major ensemble each of the first eight semesters on campus. Once the requirements are met 0 credits for the remainder of the matricualtion is expected. Chamber Ensemble (4 credit hours)
Minimum of 4 credit hours.
Once the requirements are met 0 credits for the remainder of the matricualtion is expected. Recitals: (3 credit hours)
Techniques Courses: (10 credit hours)
Music & Humanities Electives: (4 credit hours)
Students must take 4 credit hours from any of the following: Any Music courses from 100-299 Any MUSIC courses from 724-725 No more than 3 credits from a course in ART, CLSCS, COMM, DANCE, ENGL, HIST, MC, PHILO, THTRE, or any Modern Language Total Hours Required for Graduation: 120
