Dual Master of Business Administration (MBA)/Master of Accountancy (MACC)

The dual Master of Business Administration (MBA)  / Master of Accountancy (MACC)  provides graduate students the opportunity to earn an MBA and MAcc at the same time as well as the ability to count 6 hours of electives dually towards the MBA and MAcc. The MBA portion is designed to advance the knowledge and practice of business administration. The Master of Accountancy portion is designed to prepare students for a career in Corporate Accounting & Finance (CMA path) or Professional Accounting (CPA path). Regardless of the path, students will be challenged with cutting-edge topics such as Accounting Analytics, Financial Statement Analysis, and International and Multijurisdictional Taxation. Students graduating from the dual degree program will receive two degrees, an MBA and an MAcc. The program requires the completion of 54 credit hours: 30 credit hours for the MBA program and 24 credit hours in the MAcc program. The degrees are conferred simultaneously when all requirements for the dual degree program have been met.

Admission Requirements


The admission requirements do not change for either program. The applicant must meet the eligibility requirements for both programs.

  • The student must be seeking an MBA and MAcc degree from the College of Business Administration

The person seeking admission to the MBA/MAcc Dual Degree Program must:

  1. Complete an application on CollegeNet (https://www.applyweb.com/kstateg) using Dual MBA/MAcc program link. Students desiring to apply only to the MBA or MAcc should select that specific program NOT the dual degree option in CollegeNet. The link will be accessible from the College of Business portal. Application materials include: official transcript of all completed academic work; GRE or GMAT scores and TOEFL scores, if applicable; statement of objectives; resume; and an Affidavit of Financial Support, if applicable.
  2. The graduate admission committee of each program will evaluate the MBA/MAcc application separately, and only those who are accepted by both programs will be admitted to the Dual MBA/MAcc program.
  3. A student who is initially admitted to either the MBA or MAcc degree and who later decides to pursue the dual degree must apply for change of degree to the MBA/MAcc dual degree prior to being awarded the first degree.
  4. Students admitted to the MBA/MAcc joint degree program who later decide they only want to complete one of the degrees must:
    1. Submit a written notification to both programs.
    2. Must have their primary program plan changed to reflect the degree to be completed.
    3. Submit a new program of study for the degree program they will complete to the graduate school for an approval. Students must complete the requirements for the respective program to receive the MBA or MAcc degree.

Application Process


The application process is the same as for the stand-alone MBA and MAcc degrees. The student must submit all of the following documents to be considered. KSU graduate application form completed on-line before semester of enrollment.

  • Student’s statement of academic objective(s).
  • Official transcript(s) of all undergraduate work.

Course Requirements


The program structure is the same as the individual programs except that students are able to count 6 hours of elective credit towards both programs.

Prerequisites


Curriculum prerequisite courses (MBA)

  • Six hours of economics
  • MATH 205  General Calculus and Linear Algebra or evidence of equivalent preparation
  • An undergraduate statistics course or equivalent preparation (STAT 703  must be taken in the first year of the program)

Curriculum prerequisite courses (MAcc)

  • Prior business and accounting training achieving basic competency in the following business core foundation areas: accounting, statistics, management information systems, economics, finance, marketing, and management, as determined by prior coursework. You may acquire these competencies by completing additional business core foundation coursework even after applying to the program.

Total Hours Required for MBA: 36


Total Hours Required for MAcc: 30
