Offered through the Special Education, Counseling, and Student Affairs graduate program, the PhD in Counseling and Student Development with specialization in Leadership in Academic Advising requires a minimum of 90 hours post baccalaureate. The doctoral program prepares professionals for roles in leadership, research, and teaching focused on academic advising in higher education. A master’s degree is a requirement for admission and represents 30 credits toward the 90 credits required for the doctorate.
Doctoral degree requirements
A designated core of 6 hours of graduate credit is required. These courses may be part of a master’s degree or must be completed in addition to the doctoral course work. These courses include the following:
