Agricultural Education and Communication (MS)

A master’s of science in Agricultural Education and Communication is a research degree that aims for the discovery of knowledge, the education of graduate students, and the improvement in the quality of life for those we serve. Three levels of research intensity are offered: Thesis (30 credit hours), Report (32 credit hours), and Non-Thesis/Project (36 credit hours). Graduates will develop the foundation for research and the ability to educate the public in the breadth and depth of the agricultural industry and communicate information to the agricultural industry as well as the general public.

Admission Requirements


  1. A bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the regional accrediting agency.
  2. Grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 hours of coursework. This GPA is based only on courses graded on a multilevel scale, usually A, B, C, D, F.
  3. For students who do not meet the above-stated GPA requirement, an alternative would be a combined verbal/quantitative score of 300 or higher on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for tests taken after August 1, 2011.
  4. Recommendation letters from three people knowledgeable of the applicant’s professional qualifications.
  5. A statement of purpose for pursuing the master’s degree.

Additional Requirements for Report Option


Leadership


A minimum of 3 credit hours must focus on Leadership. Classes may be selected from AGED, AGCOM, EDACE, or LEAD. Other courses may be proposed to the student’s graduate committee.

Report


Choose 2 hours from the following:

Electives


Choose 18 hours of electives. Elective coursees available subject to approval by the student’s graduate committee.

Additional Requirements for Non Thesis/Report Option


Leadership


A minimum of 3 credit hours must focus on Leadership. Classes may be selected from AGED, AGCOM, EDACE, or LEAD. Other courses may be proposed to the student’s graduate committee.

Electives


Choose 24 hours of electives. Elective courses available subject to approval by the student’s graduate committee.
