The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for engineering and Technology (ABET, http://www.abet.org.)

Bachelor’s degree requirements

The civil engineering curriculum requires the completion of 128 credit hours. There are five available tracks that impact the selection of courses taken to meet the requirements of the track electives (12 hours) and the design electives (12 hours) listed in the senior year of the civil engineering curriculum. The five tracks are General, Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Transportation/Materials Engineering.

Curriculum in civil engineering (CE)

Freshman year

Sophomore year

Junior year

Senior year

Fall semester (15 credit hours)

Spring semester (15 credit hours)

Notes

A GPA of at least 2.25 in the four CE design elective courses used to satisfy their 12 hours of CE design electives in four areas of civil engineering. If more than 12 hours of CE design electives, the best 12 hours that meet the requirement of four different design areas and the track requirements will be used to compute the CE Design Elective GPA.

A resident cumulative GPA of 2.300 or better is required for a change of major from any engineering program to civil engineering.

*Students must complete the appropriate prerequisite credits for ENGL 415, but may apply only 3 credit hours of ENGL 415 prerequisite credits towards degree requirements.

**General education humanities and general education social sciences electives are to be selected from general education courses (K-State 8) that are also on the engineering humanities and social sciences elective list and need not be taken in the order listed in the curriculum.

***Track electives are to be selected in consultation with the student’s faculty advisor to satisfy the requirements of the track the student has chosen. One course from either the engineering materials or circuits, fields, and electronics engineering science group is required in the general track.

****CE design electives are to be selected from the list approved by the department to satisfy track requirements.

For additional information about the General Education program, check the requirements specified by the College of Engineering.
