Pre-chiropractic health is not a degree-granting program. Consultation with an academic advisor is strongly recommended.

Students may, however, wish to choose a major and stay for a degree. A bachelor’s degree is required for licensure in many states so many chiropractic colleges are now requiring a degree.

Most chiropractic colleges abide by the prerequisite course recommendations of The Council on Chiropractic Education. This list of courses can be found on the website of The Association of Chiropractic Colleges and is used as a guideline when advising students. Individual colleges, however, may have additional specific requirements not listed here.

Program requirements

(At least 90 semester hours with at least 30 hours at the upper division (above 200 level) with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a grade of at least C in all requirements.)

The following courses satisfy the admission requirements for most chiropractic colleges:

Communication/Composition Skills

ENGL 100 - Expository Writing I Credits: (3)
ENGL 200 - Expository Writing II Credits: (3)

Psychology (at least 3 credit hours)

PSYCH 110 - General Psychology Credits: (3)

Humanities and Social Sciences (at least 15 credit hours)

Natural Sciences-Biology

At least 6 hours, 2 courses with labs

BIOL 198 - Principles of Biology Credits: (4)
BIOL 340 - Structure and Function of the Human Body Credits: (8)

Natural Sciences-Chemistry

At least 12 hours
At least 6 hours with labs
At least 3 hours inorganic chemistry, and
At least 6 hours organic chemistry/biochemistry

CHM 210 - Chemistry I Credits: (4)
CHM 230 - Chemistry II Credits: (4)

One of the following options:
