VCS 863 - Veterinary Surgery I Credits 3
Veterinary Surgery I is a continuation of the second-year course VCS 843, Surgical Principles. In Veterinary Surgery I, students will be introduced to small animal anesthesia principles which will be the basis for the hands-on anesthesia experiences in the accompanying laboratory course, VCS 864, as well as for the 4th year small animal anesthesia clinical rotation. Students will also be introduced to small animal orthopedic and surgical neurologic conditions with emphasis on appropriate clinical reasoning through diagnostic evaluation, surgical treatment, pre- and post-operative care, and complications.

Requisites Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of all required second year veterinary courses.
