ASI 511 - Applied Animal Breeding and Genetics Credits 4
A combined animal breeding and genetics course featuring quantitative genetics and how the principles of genetic evaluation, natural and artificial selection, genomics, and mating systems are utilized for genetic improvement in livestock, horse, and companion animal species. This course also includes an introduction to Mendelian, molecular, and population genetics and their applications in livestock breeding.
Note Three hours lecture and one hour recitation per week. Students may not earn credit for both ASI 500 + 501 and ASI 511. The on-campus students enroll in the fall. Online program students enroll in the spring.
