EDCI 440 - Cultural and Linguistics Accommodations for Diverse Settings

Credits: 3

Focuses on the fundamentals of culturally and linguistically relevant practices for today’s diverse classrooms. Special emphasis is placed on ways to navigate and create culturally responsive ecologies of learning and provide meaningful core instruction and the needed accommodations for diverse learners within PreK-12 settings. Through a critical cultural lens, students will examine the historical and contemporary efforts and approaches for advocacy, inter-cultural interactions, acculturation vs. social differentiation, various diversity perspectives and initiatives, and the importance of transformative practices and critical consciousness within our schools and society.
