IAID 290 - Design and Material Culture Credits: 3
This course examines contemporary topics within material culture and design across the three domains of practice and scales: Interior Architecture, Furniture Design, and Industrial Design. It serves as an introduction to the disciplinary topics that are shaping current and future design practice. The course begins with a chronological survey of design movements and their grounding theories which serves to frame a deeper thematic discussion around the three major course topics: environmental sustainability, health, and equity.
