IAID 824 - Advanced Furniture Design Studio Credits: 6
Advanced design, construction, and finishing of contemporary furniture. Students explore projects programmed under the previous semester’s Advanced Studio Programming. Projects must be relevant in a contemporary socio-cultural, architectural and technological context; employ rigorous design research processes and methodologies; identify user and usability needs/ desires; accommodate market opportunities and constraints; explore multiple conceptual solutions in a variety of hand and digital media; and demonstrate experimentation in the design of spatial components utilizing advanced construction techniques and materials through the development and documentation of models and prototypes. A book, oral and visual presentation and display materials for exhibition of the student’s work will be required at the completion of the course.
