PAS 732 - Psychiatry & Behavioral MedicineCredits: 2
Course will present an introduction to the neurobiological, psychobiological, emotional, social, and cultural influences on mental health and illness of diverse patient populations with acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan, including end-of-life care, and will integrate human physical and psychological development, human sexuality, and responses to stress, injury, illness and death. Also incorporated is the training in substance use, abuse, addiction, and treatment adherence issues. Principles of violence identification and prevention will be examined, and basic counseling skills and instruments for the evaluation and management of psychiatric disorders will be presented.
Requisites: Prerequisite: PAS 780, Clinical Medicine I
