AVT 400 - Composites IICredits: 3
Continued study of the mechanical properties of several composite materials along with strengths and limitations. Topics include gelcoats for tooling and part production, layup of semi complex composite parts using wet layup and vacuum bagging techniques, simple mold development, construction, and repair. Additionally, students are introduced to compression composite molding compounds and tooling required for production, and composite facility layout and outfitting. The lab will support the lectures with projects designed to give the student the hands on application.
Note One hour lecture and four hours lab a week.
Requisites Prerequisite: AVM 303 or AVT 317.
