HIST 554 - History of the SouthCredits: (3) Topical analysis of important issues in Southern history. Compares the plantation myth of popular films with interpretations by important historians. Emphasis on plantation agriculture, slavery, race relations, class, and gender in the Old South. Post-Civil War topics include federal Reconstruction efforts, segregation, economic reform, and the modern Civil Rights movement.
Requisites Prerequisite: Sophomore standing.
