DMP 110 - Introduction to Public Health

This is an introductory survey course designed to provide a history of public health, an overview of the five core disciplines (epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, social and behavioral health, and health policy and management), and information about career options in public health. Using these introductory materials as a foundation, students will investigate and analyze contemporary issues in public health such as bioterrorism, threats to the nation’s food supply, burden and distribution of infectious diseases on a global population, and the role of public health in disaster preparedness and management.
