Art education
Students Interested in teaching art in elementary or secondary schools should complete the Bachelor of Science in Education degree offered through the College of Education. This degree includes 45 credits of Studio Art courses.
Transfer students
Art courses transferred to K-State will be reviewed by the art department for application of appropriate credit. A detailed syllabus must be supplied.
Laptop Requirement:
All Art students are required to have a laptop or access to a laptop computer during their time as a student in the department. In general, the laptop needs to support the full Adobe Creative Cloud Suite subscription.
Specific technology requirements for Department majors in these areas of study
Photo area - Required hardware and software:
- Mac (preferred) or PC Laptop
- Screen Size: 14 inch and above
- At least 16GB unified memory
- At least 512 GB memory
- At least 1 portable hard drive: 500GB to 1TB for backup
- Adobe CreativeCloud Suite (Use “Students and Teachers” Pricing)
- DSLR/mirrorless camera with at least 1 lens: at least 24 megapixel or above, with full manual controls, RAW file and HD video capability
- Durable tripod (aluminum or carbon fiber)
Graphic design area - Required hardware and software:
Mac laptop, minimum 13 inch screen (Apple is the industry standard for graphic design); 14 inch, preferred
- Minimum Specifications: Apple Macbook Pro with 13 inch screen M1 Chip with 8‑Core CPU and 8‑Core GPU 256GB SSD Storage
- Dell XP13 or Microsoft Surface Book 3 laptops (not the surface tablet) are equivalent minimum Windows computer
- Complete Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, all applications (Use “Student and Teachers” Pricing)
- Cloud-based backup service and/or minimum 1TB backup drive
