Art education

Students Interested in teaching art in elementary or secondary schools should complee the Bachelor of Science in Education degree offered through the College of Education. This degree includes the Art (EDART) Teacher Licensure Program  and 42 credits of Studio Art courses.

Transfer students

Art hours transferred to K-State will be assigned by the art department. Students may use transfer hours toward their area of concentration only when obtained from a four-year college or university.

Computer application

The Department of Art includes a number of concentrations that require the use of the computer. The department, in order to help prepare students for their professional activities requires that students within these concentrations provide or have access to a computer and software to enhance their course of study. The Department of Art will provide information related to hardware and software options.

Laptop requirements for majors in these concentration areas

Photo area - Required hardware and software:

• Mac (preferred) or PC Laptop
• Screen Size: 15 inch and above
• At least Quad Core 2.7 GHz + 8GB RAM
• At least 256 GB memory
• At least 1 portable hgard drive: 500gb to 1TB for backup and file storage
• Adobe CreativeCloud suite Use (“Students and Teachers” Pricing)

Digital Experimental Media area - Required hardware and software

• Mac or PC Laptop
• Processor: Minimum 2.6 GHZ i5
• Ram: Minimum 8gb ram

Graphic design area - Required hardware and software:

• Mac (or PC) Labtop or iMac (design industry standard is Mac)
• 15 to 27 inch screen
• At least Quad Core 2.7 GHz + 8GB RAM
• At least 256 GB memory
• 4+ Gig RAM
• At least 1 portable hard drive: 500gb  to 1TB for backup and file storage
